Bethani Lyle
Providing High Quality Maternity Care at Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville
Even with pandemic protocols and a prenatal scare, Bethani Lyle describes the birth of each of her daughters — Jaycee, 4 and Jolee "Jojo," 2 — as perfect. She credits the team at Tennova Healthcare — Clarksville for making sure she was safe and comfortable before, during and after labor and delivery, and had a great experience with her newborns.
There was never any doubt that Bethani would have her children at Tennova. A Clarksville native, Bethani grew up around the hospital where her mom has been a nurse for more than [25] years. However, when Jaycee was born in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, she didn't know what to expect.
"It was really scary because you grow up as a little girl and picture having your own little girl and it doesn't involve holding your baby while wearing a mask," said Bethani. "But once we got into our room, it was just such a beautiful experience, and I didn't feel scared at all. From my doctor to my nurses and every staff member, they took such good care of me and my baby."
When Bethani became pregnant with her second child, her doctor found that she had a two-vessel umbilical cord, which can be associated with birth defects and complications. Her doctor monitored her throughout her pregnancy, and knowing that she had access to the Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Tennova if needed gave her peace of mind. Bethani delivered Jojo at Tennova without complications and credits her nurses for keeping her calm during Jojo's birth.
"With my second baby, my blood pressure got really low, but they put me on my side and it was instantly fixed." said Bethani. "I remember telling one of the nurses that she was doing such a good job at making me feel comfortable in one of the most vulnerable positions you can be in. I could have talked to them for hours — it was like being with old friends. You hold them in such a special place in your heart on the best day of your life."
Bethani added that both the staff and the facility make Tennova the ideal place to give birth.
"I love the birthing suites — those rooms are so spacious and comfortable," said Bethani. "And anybody I know that has had a baby there has the same feelings. I always think the third floor shows out."
