Dr. Brett Simpson, Neurosurgeon, Joins Tennova Medical Group

CLARKSVILLE, TN (May 6, 2025) – Tennova Medical Group welcomes Brett Simpson, M.D., to Tennova Neurosurgery - Clarksville. Dr. Simpson, a board-certified neurosurgeon, specializes in the treatment of conditions affecting the nervous system and spine. Dr. Simpson will serve his patients at 647 Dunlop Lane, Medical Office Building One, Suite 210 in Clarksville.
Originally from a small city in southeast Michigan, Dr. Simpson received his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He earned master’s degrees in both biomedical science and healthcare administration and management at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Simpson also completed his medical doctorate from Rosalind Franklin University.
Dr. Simpson completed his neurosurgery residency and enfolded spine fellowship at the University of Texas-Houston.
Dr. Simpson previously practiced at St. David’s South Hospital in Austin, Texas, where he started the first spine surgery program. During his time in Austin, he served as the neurosurgery trauma liaison. In that role he helped the hospital maintain its level 2 ACS trauma certification.
Dr. Simpson believes in delivering compassionate, skillful and efficient care based on a partnership with his patients. He has a special interest in adult degenerative and complex spinal reconstructions, as well as traumatic injuries to the nervous system. In addition to his spine practice, Dr. Simpson is dedicated to treating other conditions of the central and peripheral nervous system, including malignant and benign brain tumors, Chiari malformations, carpal tunnel syndrome and hydrocephalus, to name a few. Dr. Simpson shares “I’m excited to meet the people of Clarksville, Montgomery County, and the surrounding areas. I hope to serve my patients with their neurosurgical needs and become the most trusted neurosurgical provider in the area. My goal is to make my patients confident and comfortable from our first meeting.”
Outside of work, Dr. Simpson enjoys working in his yard, going on hikes and being outdoors, traveling with his wife Caitlin, and playing with his son Callum and their 4 cats and one dog. He enjoys rooting on his home town team, the Detroit Lions.
