CLARKSVILLE, TN (September 18, 2025) – Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville was awarded thirteen Zero Harm Awards from The Tennessee Hospital Association (THA). This is THA’s second year to present the Zero Harm Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements in patient safety across Tennessee hospitals. These awards, developed in collaboration with the Tennessee Center for Patient Safety (TCPS) and the THA Quality Committee, celebrate Tennova’s clinical departments that have reached zero healthcare-associated infections in categories including Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI) and Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) for 2024.
“The achievements of these departments are a testament to our focus on quality and safety practices in our facility,” said Drew Emery, CEO of Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville. “The awards highlight the dedicated efforts of our clinical departments to eliminate harm, save lives, and reduce unnecessary costs. THA’s zero harm initiative aligns with Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville’s goal of achieving zero preventable harm across our hospital.”
Receiving the Zero Harm Awards for CLABSI and CAUTI was achieved by increased nurse rounding to those patients susceptible to infection, continuous education with staff, and mentoring by nursing leadership to patient care providers.
Tammy Van Dyk, senior vice president at THA’s Tennessee Center for Patient Safety, shared, “The Zero Harm Awards celebrate hospitals that demonstrate what is possible when teams work together with a relentless focus on patient safety. These achievements directly benefit patients, families, and communities across Tennessee.”
